I moved to London over a year ago and it has been the best decision I have ever made. Living on your own and discovering a new city/country by yourself is a like a real life adventure playground to test yourself.
Here are 5 things I have learned so far from living abroad.
It’s hard leaving everyone behind
As exciting as it is, moving somewhere new, it’s also a big sacrifice to move away from people that you care about. You realise how precious your family time is and how fast life goes.
But then you make friends and meet amazing people, which helps you feel at home.
It’s all about making the most of it
Living alone abroad can be terrifying; especially when you move somewhere that speaks another language. It pushes you out of your comfort zone. But thanks to that, you discover new things, new people, new places. Celebrate the little things to make your new life worthwhile. It’s all about making the most of it and here, in London, people know exactly how to enjoy every little thing.
You have the chance to create your own future
When I moved to London, I thought I could fail by leaving my comfort zone but I had this strong feeling that something would change my life and bring what I needed to be as fulfilled as I wished.
The benefit of moving somewhere new is how easy it is to try, to fail, to test and try again and experiment new things. Take risks to make your life the way you want to build it. It’s scary, it’s unstable but it’s worth it.
Life is full of opportunities; it’s boring if you don’t try to grab one of them on your way through.
You grow faster than you think
I have been put in situations that I never thought I would be able to handle. We underestimate ourselves sometimes and by leaving our comfort zone we tend to challenge both our strengths and vulnerabilities.
You become more independent, a queen able to manage a lot of things (more than you thought) but the most important thing you learn is how to be flexible because your plan will never go exactly the way you think!
The world is a massive place
Once you start traveling and learning about new places and new people you meet through your life, you realise how massive this world is. Full of lives, of stories, of cultures, of ideas. This world is massively rich, it makes you more curious and ready to hit the road and be more open-minded.
It is so exciting, once you move abroad, to realise how lucky you are to be able to discover the world again and again.
